The Ballet Center is a non-competition, performance-based dance studio located in Bristol, Rhode Island.  We are proud to offer dance training in a friendly, family atmosphere.  We believe that good technique can be learned in a safe and trusting environment.  It is our goal to help each student be the best dancer they are meant to be whether a professional or recreational dancer.

The Ballet Center offers classes in classical ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary and zumba.  Our school year runs from September through June.  In the summer we offer several dance camps for younger dancers and a summer session for teens and adults.

Performance

The Ballet Center prides itself in the professional quality of its performances.  The culmination performances held in June showcase our entire student body and all our dance styles.  Every other year The Ballet Center produces the holiday ballet, The Nutcracker.  All classical students in the leveled ballet classes are able to participate in this wonderful performance opportunity.  Performing in full-length ballets gives the students much more than dance experience, they have to act as well. Look at these wonderful performing opportunities throughout the year:

  • In December interested students in Ballet Levels 1 through 7  have the opportunity to participate in our production of The Nutcracker. Currently this production has two shows!  Interested dancers do not need to be students at The Ballet Center to participate!  Contact the school for details.

  • In June, the Ballet Center offers a performing opportunity to all registered students.  This production will be held at Keats Theatre at St. Andrew's School.  These performances have included Les Sylphides, Coppelia, Snow White, Gaite Parisienne, Act II Nutcracker, Pictures at an Exhibition, La Bayadere:  Kingdom of the Shades, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty Act III, Spartacus, and Alice in Wonderland  Currently this production has two shows!

  • Other performance opportunities have included The Summer Dance Series at Goat Island in Newport, RI with Island Moving Co., Arts Night at Nayat Elementary School in Barrington, the Wood Street Winter Fest, and the Bristol Rotary Club Waterfront Festival.

Fairy Tale Ballet Program

All dancers ages 3-9  participate in the Fairy Tale Ballets.  The last 15 minutes of every class is devoted to learning a dance from one of our magical ballets!  Minor props and costumes are used to help make the dance feel "real".  Every student will receive a CD containing all the music used in the Fairy Tale Ballets so that they can continue to explore movement and dance at home!
